Renshi Pon Inthathirath

Renshi Pon Inthathirath came to Boise in 1999 with over 15 years of martial arts experience. Renshi Inthathirath received his training in Shorei-ryu Karate-do while living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Shortly after relocating, Renshi Inthathirath fulfilled his dream and became Sensei (teacher) to a small group of eager students. In just a few short years, he has transformed the school into what you see today. He now teaches large classes of children, young adults, and adults.

Renshi Inthathirath has received his 5th degree black belt in Goju-ryu karate, Goju-kyokai karate and his 2nd degree black belt in Shorei-ryu karate. He has also a received an instructorship certification in Krav Maga by the National Krav Maga Association and trianed with Master Toddy at the world renowned Master Toddy’s Muay Thai Academy in Las Vegas. He competed for over four years on the NASKA (North American Sport Karate Association) circuit on “Side Kick International Competition Team” under the direction of world champion martial artist John Chung. During his years on the NASKA circuit, Renshi Inthathirath held national rankings in traditional kata, weapon kata, and sparring.

Renshi Inthathirath has always had a special place in his heart for children. He teaches children as young as three years of age the value of Karate-do. Each child learns respect, discipline, coordination, balance, focus, and increased confidence in a fun filled environment. His children always bring home top places from both local and national karate tournaments. In 2003 he formed children and young adult competition teams. This team environment gives members of the team a structured outlet to show their talents and students, whom are not members, something to strive for. Renshi Inthathirath has also had great success with teaching children with severe ADD and ADHD. Karate helps these special children focus. This in turn gives them more confidence in themselves. Renshi also likes to stay involved with his students outside the dojo. He teaches children soccer whenever he has a chance, treats students who bring him good report cards, and has his office door open anytime a student may need advice or someone to talk to.

On September 29, 2002 and November 1, 2009 Renshi Inthathirath was nominated and won Channel 7’s “Seven’s Hero” award for his work with children and children with ADHD. In October 2002 Channel 7 did another piece on Renshi and his teaching of Krav Maga. He was also featured again on January 15, 2003 when Channel 2 had a special on “Kinder Karate” which featured the dojo and Sensei’s son Keenan.

In November 2009 Renshi Inthathirath decided to merge his Dojo with Treasure Valley Fitness and Throwdown of Idaho. Along with his dedicated students and parents, Sensei Inthathirath brought his unique proven style of Martial Arts instruction to his new home. As head of all Throwdown of Idaho’s Martial Arts programs he plays an intricate role in both designing and implementation of Throwdown of Idaho’s many classes.
